General Delegate Information

February is mid-summer in Cape Town. Temperatures easily reach 30 degrees Celsius and higher.

All conference venues will be temperature controlled and comfortable, and the ‘Cape Doctor’ – the South-East wind – often blows, keeping the City cool.

The daily weather and long-term forecasts can be checked here.

Airport Transfers and Taxis

The conference venue, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, will provide free Wi-Fi for all delegates for the conference days. The access code will change daily and will be pasted around the venue for all to use.

Cape Town is a big city and all appropriate precautions should be taken. Do not walk about after dark unless in a large group, do not carry large amounts of cash or expensive technical equipment on the street and only use metered taxi services (info below).

In case of emergency, dial 107 toll-free from any land line or pay phone.

Electrical adaptors

Please note that South Africa has a 3 or 2 pin rounded plug system – most ‘universal adaptors’ do not fit into these sockets in South Africa. If you will need to plug any electrical device into a power outlet we recommend you obtain an adaptor prior to arrival that is guaranteed to work in South Africa.

Lunch and tea/coffee breaks are included in the daily delegate package and paid for by the organisers. All other meals and expenses are to delegate’s own accounts.
